Five elk poached within 30 days

Within 30 days, five elk in northern Michigan were poached and left to rot during three separate events. The first, was an elk was killed and left to rot in the Pigeon River State Forest, located in Otsego County. Days later, a second elk was killed one county over. The third poaching case included three adult cow elk that were bedded down near each other, located in the Pigeon River State Forest.
All cases remain open with conservation officers conducting active investigations.
